Lent: Word Day 34

Sandalwood is known as the oil of sacred devotion. So take a few drops in the palm of your hand and inhale deeply. Read through Luke 2:8-12 and ask God to speak to you today about the shepherds. Move your body with awe and wonder that the Creator God of all and that he has a plan for your life. Your story fits into his story no matter what anyone else has told you. You were created with purpose and promise. Lay down that worry in surrender at his feet.

The Shepherds were the lowest of all society. Outcast. They were such outcasts that they were not ever permitted into the temple. They could not be clean enough. So the night that God came down to earth, the night that he stepped into creation, the long awaited night, he did not reveal himself to kings and queens, he came to those who could not come to him. He met them where they were and proclaimed good news.

He didn't wait for them to be ceremonially clean, he said, I'm the one who does the cleaning. Come to me.

What is God trying to teach you today? What do you need to know. How can you lay your life down in a position of surrender to the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords and the Prince of Peace?
